Bio:
Our Founder, Courtney Cheri Haynes, BBA. known professionally as Courtni Starr, is an Entrepreneur, Formulation Chemist, and Musician. Born and raised in Largo, a small community located on the west coast of Central Florida. Courtni attended Gibbs High School, a renowned visual and performance arts magnet school in Saint Petersburg, Fl, where she studied musical theater, dance, vocal training, and acting courses. In addition to collegiate courses in Mathematics and Science at Pinellas Technical College(PTEC) while still enrolled in high school. Upon graduation, Courtni went on to spend the next few years in college where she double majored in Biology/Chemistry and Fine Art before taking a hiatus to pursue a career in the music industry.
By 2011, at the age of 24, she had already worked with Grammy award-winning and nominated producers, writers, and artists in the music business and had her music featured on multiple tv shows and film soundtracks. Courtni has appeared in national and international print modeling advertisements and campaigns for companies in the US, France, and the United Kingdom. Over a four year period – She also appeared as a television model on HSN(Home Shopping Network) for Benefit Cosmetics and various skincare & cosmetic brands.
Achieving radio and television success wasn’t enough for her. She had an immense passion for creating clean beauty products. Growing up in her mother’s beauty salon, the young girl was intrigued and fascinated with the beauty industry and the products that her mother, a licensed cosmetologist, applied onto her clients. This passion for science and creation led Courtni to begin researching cosmetic ingredients & chemical formulations, at the age of 12. Shortly after college, she launched into formulating her own lotions, conditioners, oil-based serums, & cream emulsions. Coco Oils Co was founded in 2011 when Courtni commenced the distribution of her products through online e-commerce platforms & select salons/spas.
In 2017, Courtni embarked on a career as an Innovation & Development Formulation Chemist at an FDA regulated and USDA Organic Certified contract manufacturing facility. Over the following years in the laboratory, she acquired additional technical knowledge and hands-on expertise in the formulation of OTC Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, Medical Devices, Topical Analgesics, Prestige Skincare, Haircare, Aerosol Technology, CBD, and various Personal Care Products for, both, niche and international brands. While maintaining the operation of Coco Oils Co in tandem. She holds 3 pending-patents as co-inventor for topical analgesic technology that are currently available on the nationwide retail market.
Courtni is the Founder/CEO of Coco Oils Co.®, a Global Online Beauty Retailer and Educator of Clean Beauty products and services. Starr is extremely passionate about ensuring that consumers are conscious of the ingredients put on and inside of their bodies while still maintaining efficacy, quality, and purity within her formulations. Luxurious, Clean Lifestyle, Inside and Out, is what her brand is all about! The Coco Oils Co.® e-commerce site launched in October of 2015 and has grown since it’s conception.
In 2020, Courtni and her brand, Coco Oils Co., were featured in British Vogue, GQ, Tatler, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Global Cosmetics Industry magazine publications. That same year, Coco Oils Co. was a finalist in the category for ‘Best New International Brand’ at the 2020 Pure Beauty Awards in London.
